Skywalk Deli, 99 Monroe - 2002-2012

This very successful, fantastic deli, open for breakfast and lunch, was forced out by the building owners to make way for a Panera location. Seriously? On most days the line is out the door to place an order but if you're lucky enough to have the time and patience, your palette was so rewarded. 

Creative sandwiches and personal, friendly service made this a go-to lunch time restaurant. The styrofoam take-out containers were unfortunate but nothing else about this place was. 

The following are a series of photos taken over the last few months, not always great quality but reflecting the great quality of these people, their food, and their humor. 

They won the 2012 Grandwich award, and Franklin Partners are turning this space into offices and renting a street level area to Panera Bread. Boycott Panera and support your local businesses. Skywalk hopes to reappear soon. Keep up with them on facebook for word of the new location.
